Sports Update
5/8/08
The soccer team will be playing for the state title against King's Academy Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Collegiate Fields. The varsity softball team begins its state tournament play Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Softball Complex in Lexington against Laurence Manning.

On April 29th the Varsity softball team will be traveling to Thomas Sumter to play the Generals at 5:00 p.m. The Varsity Soccer team will host Dillion Christian at ESAB at 5 p.m.

On April 24th the Varsity softball team will host Orangeburg Prep at Freedom Florence at 5:00. The JV Baseball team will also host Orangeburg Prep at Legand Field at 5:00. The Varsity Baseball team will play its last game of the season at Francis Marion at 5:00. The Varsity Soccer team will be traveling to Thomas Sumter to play the Generals at 6:00 for 1st place in the Region.

The Jv and Varsity baseball teams travel to Manning to play Laurence Manning today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. The FCS soccer team will travel to Richland County to face Richard Wynn at 5 p.m. The softball team takes on Laurence Manning Academy at Freedom Florence. At 5 p.m.

March 18 at 4 p.m. the FCS soccer team will face Byrnes Academy in Quinby while the varsity softball team takes on Carolina Academy at Freedom Florence. At 7 p.m. the varsity baseball team plays Carolina Academy in Lake City.

The JV softball team lost to Williamsburg Academy 13-9, and the Varsity softball team won 10-1. The JV baseball team defeated Pee Dee Academy 9-4, and the Varsity baseball team defeated Byrnes 10-4. The soccer team lost to Kings Academy 5-2.

The Soccer team will travel to Kings Academy for a 6:00 game.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team ended its season Saturday with a 60-51 loss to Augusta Christian. The Varsity Softball team will open its season Friday night, Feburary 29 in the Pee Dee Pitch off. The Eagles will play at 5:30 & 7:00 in pool play and will begin asingle elimination tournament Saturday morning at 9:00 against Lakewood.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to participate in the State tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Eagles will be playing Augusta Christian, 5:30 Saturday at Wilson Hall in Sumter. FCS would also like to congratulate David Waring on being selected as the SCISA Region 2 AAA All-Region player of the year.

The Eagles will wrap up the regular season this Thursday night by travelling to Orangeburg Prep. Region tournament play will begin this weekend. Game times will be announced once the seedings have been determined.

This week the students are enjoying spirit week as we prepare for Homecoming Friday night. The Varsity Girls will begin action at 4:00 followed by the JV Girls at 5:30, JV Boys at 6:45 and Varsity Boys at 8:00. The Homecoming court will be presented between the JV Boys and the Varsity Boys game.

The JV girls basketball Team will kick off a night of exciting basketball against Trinity Collegiate Thursday at 4:00. The JV boys will begin approximately at 5:15, The Varsity girls at 6:30 and the Varsity boys tipping off at 8:00.

Over the Christmas holidays, the Varsity Boys basketball team participated in the Pepsi Classic at West Florence High School. Although the Eagles were unable to obtain a victory, they played well against a 4A Public School and two 3A schools. Each game was very competitive but the Eagles came up short at the end. Hopefully this experience will help them as they enter region play. All four basketball team will be in action Thursday and, Friday begining at 4:00.

The Varsity boys will be participating in the Pepsi Carolina Classic beginning Wednesday, December 26th at 2:00 p.m. against South Florence High School. All games will be played at West Florence High School.

Congratulations to Patrick Bryant on being selected to the SCISA 8 man football All-State team. All four basketball teams will be in action tonight at Dillion Christian beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Varsity boys will be participating in the Pepsi Carolina Classic beginning Wednesday, December 26th at 2:00 p.m. against South Florence High School. All games will be played at West Florence High School.

FCS Athletes Receive All-Region Honors

FCS would like to congratulate several athletes for being selected to SCISA Region 2 AAA All-Region teams. Kristi Verjans, Jamie Crighton, and Brittney Singletary were selected to represent FCS in the all-region volleyball team. Kathryn Cox was selected to represent FCS on the all-region tennis team. Patrick Bryant, Chris Ehlman, and Eric Montgomery were also selected to participate in the SCISA North-South 8-man Football game. The 2007-2008 basketball season began on Tuesday night, November 27 with both Varsity girls (47-32) and Varsity boys (75-54) teams winning against Dillon Christian. Both teams followed up with on the road wins against Williamsburg Academy. Varsity girls won 40-21 and the Varsity boys won 75-35. Our next home game will be Tuesday, December 6th against Kings Academy, followed by back to back road games. On Thursday, December 6th they will travel to Marion to play Pee Dee Academy and on Friday, December 7th they will travel to Columbial to play Heathwood Hall.

Baseball Finishes Strong!

The FCS Varsity Baseball team finished the year strong with 2 great victories. They defeated Wilson Hall and Thomas Sumter back to back. The entire team are underclassmen, so they are all ready to come back next year!
