Tournament Games Cancelled

The JV Tournament scheduled for today at Robert E. Lee have been cancelled due to snow and ice. The AD's agreed to play the finals next Tuesday at Sumter Exhibition Center. The #1 and #2 seeds will play for the championships. FCS JV Boys will play at approximately 4:45 Tuesday. The Varsity Girls will play Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 Monday at Sumter. Directions for games on Saturday, Feb. 13th. From I-20, Take Exit 123 (Lee State Park Exit). Go Approximately 5 miles to Hwy 15. Take a left and enter Bishopville. Turn left on Dixon (beside trailer park) or after Blue Restaurant on left on Academy Rd. School is on the left after railroad tracks. Be careful.

There is the possibility that our JV games with Orangeburg Prep will have to be cancelled. There is a threat of rain and snow and ice with low temperatures. If this occurs, we will only play the varsity games at Orangeburg Prep. The game times will be 4:00 and 5:30. We will have a decision by 12:00 tomorrow.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9th, We have our last home basketball games of the season. Senior girls will be recognized before the Varsity girls game at approximately 6:15. Senior boys will be recognized before Varsity boys game at approximately 7:45. The games are with Robert E. FCS Varsity girls will play Colleton Prep tonight in Walterboro starting at 5:00. Boys play at 6:30. Directions are as follows: From I-95 South: take Exit 53 and turn right onto SC 63. Proceed through town through seven traffic signals. After crossing the by-pass intersection, SC 63 blends into US 15. Continue to the next signal and turn left on Academy Road; the school is one block away on the left. Drive carefully. Isaiah 10:31.
Spring Sports Tryouts.

Every student planning to tryout for baseball, softball and soccer must have an 2009-2010 physical for tryouts. If you have participated in any sport this year. you already have a physical. FCS varsity basketball team competes in the Pepsi Carolina Classic on Dec. 28th in last game against Hartsville High School at 7:30. We will play 3 games in the classic and we need a good crowd every game. Other game times will be determined by if we win or lose. Try to attend. The JV girls are 2-4 with 2 close losses. The varsity girls are 0-6, but have played really well in their last two games. JV boys are undefeated at 6-0. Playing really well. Trip to Hammond for basketball games.

Directions to Hammond. From I-20, Take I-77 to Exit 9A (Garners Ferry Road/Leesburg Road/Sumter Exit). At the end of the exit ramp turn right at the stop sign onto Leesburg Road. At the traffic light, go straight across Garners Ferry Road on Veterans Road. Dorn V.A. Hospital is on the right. The road will fork. Go right on Byron Road. Turn right onto Wormwood Lane. The road curves to the left and becomes Galway Lane. Meadowbrook Elementary is on your right. Continue straight down Galway Lane and you will enter the school property when the road dead ends. The traffic pattern turns to the right through the gates.
Basketball season starts.

We started our 2009-2010 basketball season last night. Our JV girls lost a heart breaker 25-23 in over time. All of the girls played hard against a big height disadvantage. The JV Boys won easily 36-5. Varsity boys came back from being down 2 at the half to win 51-45. Kentell Davis had a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Our next game is at Pee Dee Academy on Thursday Nov. 19th starting at 4:00. Our Varsity girls have been working hard and will start their season Thursday. Basketball Tryouts.

We will have basketball tryouts on Nov. 2nd and Nov. 3rd. JVG 3:15-4:30, VG 4:00-5:30, JVB 5:30-6:45, VB 6:15-7:45. Each athlete will be required to have the following 4 forms before they can tryout. (1. Medical Examination Form, 2.Pre-Participation History,3. Agreement for Participation, 4.Warning of Inherent Risk.) These forms are required by SCISA before a player can practice or participate. You can get these forms under resources on FCS website.If an athlete played any fall sport, they already have the necessary paperwork. We look forward to a good season. 1 Corinthians 10:31.

What a great win. FCS eagles defeated Robert E. Lee 19-18. Robert E. Lee went ahead 18-16 with 5 minutes to go. Our defense stopped them on the extra point try. That was big. We had 3rd down and 20 yards for a first down. Young James McClary ran for the first down. He had more carries to get us into field goal range. With .04 time on the clock, Justin Wisnoski kicked a 37 yard field goal for the win. Congratulations to all the coaches and players for a great game. 1 Corinthians 9:24.
Tennis & Volleyball Match-Robert E. Lee

The tennis match with Robert E. Lee is cancelled and will not be made up. It did not have a bearing on the region, therefore will not be played. Look for info on playoffs. The girls had a good season and finished 8-7, 5-2. We look forward to next year. The Volleyball match with Robert E. Lee was rescheduled for next Tuesday, Oct. 20 in Bishopville.
Homecoming at FCS

This Friday we will have a great time at Homecoming. All week we will have special dress-up days at school A Homecoming Queen will be crowned and we anticipate watching all the floats prepared by the individual classes. Cross Country Meet

Congratulations to Meagan Wright. She competed in the Trinity Collegiate Invitational Cross Country meet. There were over 50 female runners from 15 other schools competing. Some of the teams were Wilson Hall, Ben Lippen, Orangeburg prep, Trinity Collegiate, The Byrnes School, The Kings Academy and others. This was her first cross country meet. She won first place with a time of 22:09. Great work. She also is a member of the volleyball team. Philippians 2:16.

FCS B-team football played a very exciting game with Calhoun last night. Very well played on both sides. We lost 16-14 in overtime. We missed on our point after. It was one of the best B-Team games I've seen. Our JV team defeated Calhoun 37-16. We led 37-0 at one time. Lots of players got to play. Two good games with quality competition. Isaiah 40:31.

We had two big wins against The Kings Academy last week.
The B-team defeated Kings 33-6 and the JV team won 52-27. We were able to play a lot of young players. Everyone seemed to enjoy the games.

Florence Christian blanks The Kings Academy 49-0 in first game of the season. We had a great crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy the game. Scorers for FCS were Michael wilson with 2 touchdowns. Patrick Leland had a 21 yard run. Hunter McLamb scored on a pass from Seth Deaver. Chris Coker had a 27 yard run. Robert Miles also scored twice. Robert had 164 yds. for the game. Eagle Night is Thursday, August 13th at 6:00P.M. in the gym. It will consist of a brief but very informative meeting that is a must for every student athlete and a parent to attend. Overtime wins against Orangeburg Prep.

FCS soccer team and baseball team had overtime wins against Orangeburg Prep in Orangeburg. The soccer team won their game in a shootout. Baseball went 11 innings to win 5-4. Both teams will be in playoffs when they start. Soccer is now 10-2 and baseball is 9-5. Congratulations to both. Isaiah 40:31.

Our Soccer team will play Thomas Sumter on Thurs. Apr. 9th. The game will be played on football field at the school. The JV and Varsity softball teams will play Hammond in Columbia on the 9th. Our FCS soccer team lost a heart breaker to Wilson Hall on Friday. They scored in second half to win 1-0. Our record is now 7-1, 3-1. The baseball team defeated Carolina Academy 11-2. Their record is now 7-4, 1-4. If you want to see all of our teams in action, come out Tuesday, Apr. 7th. Softball will play Wilson Hall with JV starting at 4:00 and Varsity at 5:30. The baseball team got off to a good start with two victories. They defeated Byrnes 15-1, and Marlboro Academy 12-1. The softball team lost to a very good Wardlaw (State Champs last year) team 7-2. Region Championship

Florence Christian defeated Wilson Hall 52-50 to win the region tournament. The boys played extremely hard in the second half to overcome a 4 point half time deficit. David Waring led with 23 points. David was chosen MVP for region and tournament. Matt Heautess and Jordan Washington were also named to All Region and All Tournament. We finshed the season 17-7. FCS welcomed Marlboro Academy Friday night. We had a great crowd and everyone seem to enjoy the games. Our JV girls lost an exciting game that was decided with 3 seconds to go. Final score was 19-21. Our JV boys lost a heart breaker also, 44-45. Our varsity girls played a very good game and won 32-20. Leanna Purvis had a good night with 16 points. Our Varsity boys continued their streak with a 84-44 win. Our next game is away against our region rivals Lawrence Manning this Friday night. We really need your support. Go "EAGLES". Isaiah 40:21.

Our basketball teams repaided Ben Lippen for the 3 losses we had before Christmas at their place. .
This time we took three victories. The JV girls won 22-16. OUr varsity girls played really hard but lost their game. JV boys won a thriller 30-29 despite not having two of their starters. Varsity boys won a hard fought battle 62-58. Great way to start second half of season. We play Marlboro Academy Friday night at home. We really need a good crowd at the games. Carolina Classic Consolation II Winners.
1/2/09
FCS boys varsity basketball team had a very good tournament at the Carolina Classic. We lost our first game to Lake City High (a 3A school); however, we led by 4 pts. with 3 minutes to go in first half. We then played Johnsonville High in the consolation bracket and we defeated them handily. Next we played a very good C.E. Murray High team that had defeated South Florence the previous day. We were down 11 pts. starting the fourth quarter. Jordan Washington made 3-3 pointers and every one played and shot well. We outscored them 26-12 to win 59-55. Jordan finished with 25 pts( 5-3 pointers). and David Waring had 22 pts. Two out of three in a public school tournament is very good. Congratulations to Coach Brown and the Varsity boys on bringing a trophy home. Happy New Year. Let us give God the glory for everything in the new year.

Friday night our teams traveled to Ben Lippen in Columbia to play our last games before Christmas. Three of our teams lost. The JV boys played a very good game to defeat Ben Lippen 45-16. Our next opponent after Christmas will be Ben Lippen. We hope to have better results. Our Varsity boys will be playing in the Carolina Classic at West Florence on Dec. 29 th 31. Our first opponent will Lake City High. We need a good crowd of supporters to help us defeat some of the public schools.

Our basketball teams had their second consecutive night with 4 wins against Dillon Christian. JV girls won 25-7, JV boys won 50-19, Varsity girls 54-49 in a very close good game, Varsity boys won 94-57. Some individual stats were Jessica Sims 20 pts., Ginny Gause with 21 pts., and David Waring with 32 points. Our next game is with Pee Dee Academy at home next Thursday, Dec. 11th. Tuesday night was a great night for FCS basketball. All four teams had victories over The King's Academy. The JV Girls won 26-11, JV Boys 41-21, Varsity Girls 47-20,
Varsity Boys 69-35. Thursday night we play Dillon Christian with the games starting at 4:00. We need a good crowd to cheer our teams on. Most of all, we need to give God the glory for everything that happens at FCS.

It is time to put the oval ball up and bring out the round ball. Friday night, Nov. 14th at 6:30 we will have "Eagle" night to introduce our basketball teams. They have been working hard to prepare for tough schedules. We open next Tuesday in Columbia against Cardinal Newman. All four teams will play. The varsity and JV girls are young and inexperienced, but are looking forward to the season. JV boys should be competetive. We play Dorchester Academy on the road in our final varsity football game Friday night. Our future in football looks real bright considering the B-team was 6-3 and the JV team was undefeated. We knew our varsity was going to have a tough schedule this year. With any luck at all, we could have won 2 or 3 more games. We need to continue our support of the team by having a good crowd Friday night. Word has it that some of our JV players will be moved up for this game. Let's finish with a win . Big wins in football & volleyball.

The FCS B-team defeated Dillon Christian 24-16. The JV Team led 16-0 in first quarter of rain shortened game. Our varsity team defeated Carolina Academy 28-13 for our second win of the season. The volleyball team defeated Lawrence Manning 3-2 and lost a very close match to Wilson Hall by scores of 25-23, 27-25, 27-25. The tennis team lost two matches to Lawrence Manning and Wilson Hall. Our teams are very young and we have many returning players to build on for next year. Keep encouraging and supporting our teams. Go "Eagles"
Homecoming Week-Join in the fun.

This is Homecoming week at Florence Christian School. Many exciting things are planned. There is something different every day at school. The classes are working on floats that will be shown Friday night. There is great anticipation of whom will be crowned Homecoming Queen. Our Tennis team defeated Marlboro Academy 8-1. The volleyball team won 3-0 against Marlboro. JV volleyball lost a close match 2-1. Third game score was 23-25. Our B team football defeated Dillon Christian 30-26 in a thriller. The JV team won their game 28-6 to remain undefeated. Parents- Picture day for all three football teams is Wednesday, Sept. 24th. on football field at 3:00. On Wednesday, Oct. 1st, tennis, volleyball, cheerleading pictures are scheduled at 3:00. Cheerleading at football field, tennis at tennis courts, and volleyball in gym.

Our sport teams are busy. Tennis plays at home against Orangeburg Prep on Tuesday and Wilson Hall is in Sumter on Thursday. Volleyball is at home Tuesday against Pee Dee Academy and away Thursday at Williamsburg Academy. Our B-Team and JV football teams play Thursday at home against Cardinal Newman. Our Varsity football travels to Columbia Friday night to play their varsity team. We need a good crowd at each game to support our teams.

The tennis team has two home matches this week. On Tuesday they play Pee Dee Academy and on Thursday Trinity Collegiate. We lost both matches earlier by 4-5. With a little encouragement, our girls could win. Volleyball is away both games. They play Wilson Hall on Tuesday and Trinity Collegiate on Thursday . B-team and JV football play away at Calhoun Academy on Thursday. Friday night the varsity football team plays Calhoun at home. Please try to come and support our teams. Go "Eagles"

The teams continue to play hard. We are very young in tennis and volleyball. They will get better. Tennis lost a close match to Trinity Collegiate 4-5. They also played Carolina Academy and lost 1-8. The volleyball team defeated Trinity Collegiate 3-0. They also defeated Marlboro Academy 3-2 to improve to 2-3. Last Friday night, the football team lost a heartbreaker to Byrnes 24-23. It was our first game on the new field and we had an awesome attendance. Our boys played hard but we were guilty of too many mistakes. Please continue to come out and support our teams.

Congratulations to our teams for a great start. The tennis team is 1-1 with a big win over Marlboro Academy 6-3. Volleyball is 0-2 but lost to Ben Lippen and Pee Dee, two very good teams. Football got a great start in 11 man football with a 42-14 win over The Kings Academy. Come out and support us Friday night against The Byrnes School at 7:30.

Congratulations to the 2008 FCS Soccer team. These guys finished up their season with the state runner up title. FCS would like to congratulate all of our athletes this year for a job well done. Each team played hard and represented FCS well and we are proud of all of you!! Have a great summer!!!

On April 29th the Varsity softball team will be traveling to Thomas Sumter to play the Generals at 5:00 p.m. The Varsity Soccer team will host Dillion Christian at ESAB at 5 p.m.

On April 24th the Varsity softball team will host Orangeburg Prep at Freedom Florence at 5:00. The JV Baseball team will also host Orangeburg Prep at Legand Field at 5:00. The Varsity Baseball team will play its last game of the season at Francis Marion at 5:00. The Varsity Soccer team will be traveling to Thomas Sumter to play the Generals at 6:00 for 1st place in the Region.

The Jv and Varsity baseball teams travel to Manning to play Laurence Manning today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. The FCS soccer team will travel to Richland County to face Richard Wynn at 5 p.m. The softball team takes on Laurence Manning Academy at Freedom Florence. At 5 p.m.
