The Student Government, under the direction of Mrs. Michelle Johnson, takes an active roll in community service projects in the Florence area. Each grade 7th-12th sponsors two service projects, and the student government sponsors several school wide projects during each school.
This year the students collected food for the needy during the month of December, and will be sponsoring a Locks of Love project in May. Female 1st-12th grade students and moms will have the opportunity to donate their pony tails to make a wig for someone that has lost her hair due to an illness.
The student government has served in other areas by ministering to area nursing homes, children's hospitals, local disabilities' agencies, soldiers, and local emergency response agencies.
Members of the association are elected to class offices by their classmates and learn leadership principles by organizing and running Homecoming activities and community service projects. The executive officers assist Mrs. Johnson daily and help to run the monthly student government meetings.
